Oluwafikunayomi Tosin-Oni (Violin) – South Bay Branch
Maywood Center (Class of 2024)
Participating in the Love In Music volunteer program has been a life-changing experience for me. Instructing young children to play the violin has not just permitted me to express my love for music but has also aided in my personal and professional development. This experience has taught me priceless abilities in communication and leadership.
Every time I engaged with the children, I learned to be more patient and empathetic, trying to explain intricate musical ideas in a manner that was captivating and easily grasped by their young minds. This hands-on experience has not just increased my knowledge of music but has also given me important leadership abilities that I can utilize in different areas of my life. As a result, Love In Music has not only improved the lives of the children we educate but has also promoted personal development in me.
Over a decade ago, I became part of Love in Music as a student, and thanks to numerous excellent teachers, I transformed into the skilled violinist I am now. The support and the opportunities provided by this organization are something I will always treasure. I wouldn’t have achieved my current successes in life without the help of my students and this program.
