Love in Music will proudly represent the Korean American community at the 20th Anniversary Commemoration of the 4.29 LA Riots, a large-scale event expected to be attended by over 6,000 people, including city officials and diverse community members. Scheduled on April 29, 2012 at Lord’s Glory Church, the event will emphasize unity and reconciliation among Black, Hispanic, White, and Korean communities.
The Love in Music Chamber Orchestra, under the direction of Jin-Sik Jung, will perform alongside a Black choir and a mixed vocal ensemble. Their program will include Handel’s “Alexander’s Feast Overture” and “Love in Music Medley,” specially arranged by Hyun-Jeong Hwang, featuring young musicians from the program. To enhance the emotional impact, a large screen will display video footage of Love in Music’s teaching efforts across its community sites.
In honor of this milestone anniversary, Love in Music will also work on launching the Love in Music-LAPD Choir, promoting harmony between the Korean and Black communities. Furthermore, for the 5th Annual Love in Music Concert on June 24, 2012, the organization plans to step beyond the Korean community and bring their music to a broader audience, reinforcing their mission of unity through music.
