Love in music, as its name suggests, helped me discover love through music. Before joining the Love in Music program, music was not something I was passionate about, rather, it was something of a chore for me. Through love in music, however, I found a community that I felt like I belonged in. Going over to the flute room to say hi, then to the piano room to listen along to the fun melodies as we wait for our students in the morning tightened my bond with my fellow teachers, later, teaching our students taught me the joy of teaching as well as the Love in Music to me was a home. As a support coordinator I learnt how to involve myself and keep disciplined. I learnt to manage the supplies, lead, engage and welcome other
As someone who joined the Love in Music program in the middle of the year, I recognized how awkward it is to join such an established program without knowing anyone, so I put my focus as a support coordinator on making people feel welcome. I would purposely make more visits to the new student or new teachers’ classroom if I could, which tightened my bond with the people and the program. Even during the busy times in junior year with APs, or during the busy college application times, Love in Music was not a burden on my schedule but rather a breath of fresh air with people I loved to work with. This Love IN music fostered my Love FOR music, and helped me spread love THROUGH music. Thank you everyone for this wonderful opportunity in this wonderful community!
