Volunteering at the Love in Music organization was truly an extraordinary experience for me. Through teaching children how to play the violin, I was able to see them foster a deep appreciation and passion for music, which not only left me leaving each lesson with a smile and sense of fulfillment, but also helped rekindle and grow my own love of music.

From the weekly Saturday lessons to the annual Christmas and Spring concerts that both the students and teachers played in, my involvement in the Love in Music program was truly gratifying. I not only encountered others who shared my passion in the violin and music as a whole, but I also realized that everyone comes from different backgrounds and circumstances. I was able to understand and empathize that not everyone was able to have their own expensive instruments, or have the opportunity to have private lessons, so through volunteering, I became more appreciative and was so happy to give others the opportunities I had and see them grow a passion for music.

Love in Music is the epitome of the phrase, “Music is a language that everyone can understand,” because the program joins people of varying backgrounds and narratives and allows them to enjoy the magic of music together. My time at the organization is unforgettable because it showed me that even though people come from different circumstances, everyone has the ability to learn an instrument and foster a love of music.
