Angie Lee (Piano/Violin) – Santa Ana Branch
Canyon High (Class of 2023)
When I first joined Love in Music, I was equipped with a passion for music performance but lacked experience in teaching. Over time, I came to realize the significance of the unique bond shared between a teacher and a student. I discovered that each student learns differently, and their learning process is influenced by their personal experiences. To cater to the needs of my basketball aficionado, I compared the staccato articulation to the rhythmic bouncing of a basketball. For my choir soprano, I encouraged the use of solfege to aid in music memorization. Witnessing the astronomical improvement of my students fills me with immense pride, and I admire their efforts, determination, and unwavering passion.
Love in Music has undeniably been the highlight of my high school career. I always cherish the sight of my students’ faces lighting up when they recognize a familiar tune, as well as their excitement at the start of each lesson to showcase what they have practiced. It has been a true honor for me not only to impart the lessons that my own teachers bestowed upon me but also to gain valuable perspectives and insights from my students. The power of musical inspiration resonates through countless paths. I hope that my students will continue their musical journey, and I aspire to keep sharing the gift of music within various communities.
