Juhyuck Choi (Piano) – Santa Ana Branch
Cypress High (Class of 2022)

Serving in Love in Music was an honor. Through this well-respected organization, I not only found joy in seeing students smile, but also realized the importance in giving back to the community. Most volunteers, including myself, have been privileged enough to learn how to play an instrument starting from a young age. Being able to teach my piano skills to students is the least that I can do. Watching the students grow and seeing their enthusiasm on a weekly basis motivated me during my three years here.

I first joined Love in Music not knowing what to expect. It was my first time ever teaching someone an instrument, so I was unsure if I would be a good mentor for my students. I  was not sure if I would have the motivation to prepare my lessons on a weekly basis. Those doubts all changed after the first week. Seeing how happy the students looked while learning the piano instantly motivated me. I’ll never forget my student going up to play the piano for her first ever concert. She started off the year not knowing the difference between the notes C and G, but by the end of the year, she knew everything.

I want to thank all the students for coming out every single week with the willingness to learn new things. I also want to thank the great volunteers and staff members for their precious time these last three years. I wish the best for Love in Music and pray that it continues to impact the lives of young students.
