Lena Wen (Piano & Clarinet)

From a young age, music has been a prominent part of my life. I started learning the piano in kindergarten, and in 4th grade, learned to play the clarinet.

Wanting to make an impact on the world of music, I joined Love in Music, first as a piano teacher, and later as a clarinet teacher during my high school years.  Looking back on my years with Love in Music, I can confidently say that the experience of being able to teach the music that I love has been transformative.

When I first joined as a freshman, I taught a new piano student. I enjoyed learning new methods of teaching music and expanding my skills. More recently, I was given the opportunity to help launch the South Bay Branch’s first clarinet class. I have greatly enjoyed learning and growing as a wind teacher, and it has greatly deepened my love for music and skills.

By far, my favorite part of being a music teacher are the concerts. While the weekly lessons teach students to learn and grow, the opportunity for them to showcase what they’ve learned from the class in a larger scale performance setting to their parents, families, and friends is unparalleled.  As I head into the next chapter of my life, I will look fondly back at what we’ve accomplished together as a part of Love in Music. What began as a personal learning experience has evolved into something that I know will stay with me forever, and I’m excited for the future of the organization.
