Love in Music Welcomes New Music Director Professor Kangwon Kim

In June 2021, Love in Music appointed Professor Kangwon Kim as the new Music Director. Professor Kim holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and is an alumna of Oberlin Conservatory. She currently teaches at Ripon College in Wisconsin, the University of Pennsylvania, and Lawrence Conservatory. Additionally, she serves as the concertmaster and associate artistic director of the Madison Bach Musicians.

Previously, she was a violin and chamber music professor at Biola University. She is a faculty member of Oberlin Conservatory’s Credo Chamber Music Festival and co-director of the MBM Chamber Music Workshop. With a vast repertoire spanning from Baroque to contemporary music, she has performed as a soloist and chamber musician in South Korea, Canada, Puerto Rico, Switzerland, Norway, and the former Czechoslovakia. She has also released recordings with Harmonia Mundi Germany and CRI labels.

President Kwan Il Park stated, “As we begin preparations for Love in Music’s 15th anniversary, we have restructured our board with 12 new members and welcomed Professor Kangwon Kim, who has been actively engaged in the music scene in Wisconsin. The year 2022 marks both the 30th anniversary of the 4/29 LA Riots and the 15th anniversary of Love in Music, and we look forward to presenting special events under our new Music Director.”
